Why Wilda's Confections?
When I was five years old my dad got re-married and my stepmom's name just so happened to also be Michelle. As you can imagine this caused a lot of confusion in our house as whenever anyone would say Michelle, we would both look or answer. One day my stepmom decided to call me Matilda and a few days later she shortened it to Wilda. Not knowing this would stick, she continued to call me Wilda and the next thing I know everyone is calling me Wilda. I hated it growing up but as time went on I embraced it. I grew up baking with my Granny and always loved haning out with her in the kitchen. Something about putting the finishing touches on a cake is so peaceful and so much fun. I always said if I opened a bakery I would call it Wilda's Confections. I had to do a business plan when I got my Degree and it was on Wilda's Confections. While writing it on paper it seemed scary and like something I would never accomplish. At that time I had probalby been in the military 10 years or so. I told myself if I ever retired from the military, then I was going to Culinary School and I would make cakes on the side for my family and friends at a minimun. I spent almost 22 years serving in the military and now its my time to serve you, and that is where I came up with the name Wilda's Confections.
